(Yes, I do realize this is ANOTHER messy food picture of her. I cannot resist. And look at those two little top teeth. Can you blame me?)

Just when I thought...
Just when I thought I was the kind of mom (since it's ALL about that...) who wouldn't raise a kid who threw tantrums in the middle of a store which involved throwing herself onto the floor and kicking and writhing around while screaming as if being tortured mercilessly, and then when I pick her up, continues to squirm and scream enough to make my shoulder muscles achy at the end of the day from trying to restrain her, I am given this bundle of joy and wonder:

Are you a Pioneer Woman?
I have recently been catching up on a lovely little blog called The Pioneer Woman. (I believe I am one of the last in America to do so...) I don't know if Ben knows how close I am to putting the house up for sale and moving to a ranch in Oklahoma.
Or at least getting him some chaps for Christmas.
Oh, and I get over the ranch in Oklahoma thing real fast when I remember driving through there this summer, trying to find a hotel oh-so-late at night.
And the tornados. Not really a fan of that particular natural disaster. (They come close enough here!)
So, OK, we're staying here. But I may still look into the chaps.

10/10/10
The date today was my motivation for finally blogging again. Here are a couple (let's see if I can make it 10) things that have been going on lately at our household...
1) The kids started school at a brand new school. Their mascot is the Wranglers. The school has a citizenship award where all the kids try to be "ROPERS"--R for respect others, O for outstanding attitude, etc. My kids have a slight advantage on being Ropers. :)
2) Gracie started Kindergarten, and loves absolutely everything about it (except when I put a non-peanut butter and jelly sandwich in her lunch). She INSISTED that she had to ride the bus from the very first day. I'm glad she has a great brother and sister to watch out for her.

3) About two weeks after school started, the weather cooled (to the 90s). The girls started bringing sweaters or jackets to school every day, because it was soooo cold! (Actually, the air conditioning in the school is a lot cooler than what I keep it here at home, so I don't really blame them.)

4) Ben had his birthday. One of his gifts was this Superman t-shirt. Caytie is wearing one that Ben had as a little boy--his mom saved it, and gave it to us when Scott was born. She wears it as pajamas, and thinks it's absolutely wonderful that she and her dad match.
5) We had some cement poured in our back yard. We wanted to get the kids' handprints put in it--and names, ages, etc. But it was poured in the middle of August, when the temperature was over 100 degrees, so it hardened SO FAST! We were lucky to get these ones in. Caytie and Tessa were screaming, and the workers were looking a little strangely at us as Ben and I were forcing their hands into the almost hard cement--but boy, the memories are worth it, right? Right.

7) Scott got his Bear in Cub Scouts. (He's getting his face decorated in the picture.) I'm not his Den Leader anymore, and I really do miss it. He's a good boy.

8) Tessa is perusing the mini dictionary, which Caytie pulls out any time we talk about reading scriptures. Maybe when she finishes this, she can work on her walking skills. Fifteen months, and she is still only crawling or cruising. But she is making slow progress, and likes to be up on her feet when she can get some help. My favorite is when she holds onto my pantlegs, and walks along behind me as I go about the house, doing whatever it is I do.

9) I was able to go to Time Out for Women on Friday and Saturday and have my "bucket refilled," or however you want to express that feeling that you (meaning I) hope to get at church, but most often do not, because of the distractions that seem to endlessly come along. The theme for the year is "Infinite Hope." It made me think about what I hope for and what I hope in. It was refreshing, and thought-provoking, and soul-satisfying.

10) Ben and I went to a Halloween party Saturday night. We played a game called Virus. I hadn't played it since I was on my mission, though we called it The Sign Game. So many memories of District and Zone Conferences came rushing to mind! (Maybe that's why I got out so often--I wasn't paying attention!)
I need to make a list of all those games... If anyone is still reading, and if you have a fun group game, would you mind commenting and telling me about it, so that I can share them with my family?
